4-Month Checkup

Sophia is doing fantastic! We had our 4-month checkup yesterday and the doctor confirmed what we already thought – she is healthy, happy and a very well adjusted baby. She is long and lean – weighing in at 13 pounds 8.5 ounces, she is at the 60th percentile for weight, while measuring 25 inches long she is in the 80th percentile for height. She has grown a lot in the last two months. She has the head/neck control and strength of a 6-month old baby and has scored very high in the developmental categories. The doctor said that she is doing great and is obviously a very happy and healthy baby. She isn’t teething yet though, so just drooley and exploring her hands. We talked about the exciting next steps, such as introducing solid foods. Sophia seems content with just milk for now, but in the next month or so we’ll start with rice cereal and oatmeal and go from there. The hard part of the appointment is always the shots. It is so hard to hold her arms down while she is hurting and crying, but it is for the best and I do love cuddling her and being able to soothe her.

Also an exciting celebration in our family, Wrigley turned 5-years old yesterday! We had a puppy party for him on Sunday (thanks Buddy, Don & Debbie for coming and sharing his birthday cookie J) and he has enjoyed treats, a long walk and lots of belly rubs. We really wanted him to have a special day – he has done so well with Sophia being a part of our family and sharing the attention. Happy Birthday Wrigley!
