We are a little behind on the updates, but are getting back on track!
Sophia is doing amazingly well. She is walking, exploring, chatting, problem solving and becoming more and more of a toddler right before our eyes. It’s all going by so fast. We had her 15 month check up, she is doing very well in all of her areas of development. The doctor said that she is doing so well with problem solving and communication skills that we should expect the “terrible two’s” to start early… and they have! Nothing Sophia does is terrible per se, but she has been known to throw her food, get frustrated on a whim and even roll on the floor in protest. We love every second of it though, but I have gone to work several times with Sophia’s breakfast splattered on me :)
Sophia loves to walk! She is doing great with it. The other day Jason and Sophia came to visit me at work – she walked the entire stretch of the office, on her own! She even felt comfortable enough to just start walking with my boss a good 20 feet from Mom and Dad, what a confident little lady!
Sophia has moved up to the toddler room at school, it’s a big change. She now sleeps on cots, (its stinking adorable! I peaked in on her the other day, they were all so sweet sleeping in their individual cots), they play outside, have art projects, sing songs. Sophia is learning the different parts of the face, and about seasons and leaves. It’s fun to learn about her curriculum after the fact. For example, she came home from school the last few weeks and pointed at my eye and said “eyeee” and then at my nose and said “nooos” and then at my ear and said “e-e-e”. I could totally tell that she is learning so much at school. She would even point to her stuffed animals and point out their ears, eyes and noses. She is also fascinated with leaves. We have recently bought a wagon and she LOVES being pulled around the neighborhood in it. She has started to really like holding onto leaves and will study them for a good portion of the walk. The trick is to make sure she “drops” the leaf before it gets to the mouth!

Sophia is saying so many things now. She is starting to mimic us, which is so much fun. She has started to learn how to use a fork (thank you Grammy Debbie for teaching her!) and still loves her fruits and vegetables. The only way she’ll eat meat is if you sneak it in something else (although she usually finds it and pulls it out), cover it with ketchup or feed it to her before she realizes what’s happening. But as long as she keeps enjoying her veggies we are happy!
One last thing, Sophia has the cutest excited laugh. Whenever she is really excited about something – whether it be peas, broccoli, her favorite toys – she’ll laugh this funny belly laugh. Its sounds like “hoh-hoh-hoh-hoh”. Adorable. Oh yea – and now when Jason or I pull into the driveway, she’ll yell out “Dad-eee” or “Mama”. It melts my heart every time.
