Big Day Out!

Yesterday, we had our first out-of-city outing! Jay and I loaded up our Sophia, complete with stroller, diaper bag, changes of clothes and anything else that we thought we might need as nervous first-time parents, and headed up to Denver for a day of shopping! It was such a great day - we started out at a cute breakfast restaurant in the Washington Park area of Denver. Sophia did great and we were able to change her in the back of our Jeep and then feed her sitting on a park bench, with lots of people passing by complementing how beautiful she is (of course!) It was lovely. Then we headed up to the Cherry Creek Mall, one of our favorite malls in Denver. We spent a few hours there looking around and picking up a few things for Mommy and Daddy. Sophia was a champ, she slept most of the time.

While at the mall, we did take her out of her stroller to change her and feed her, which is where it got to be a little exciting. I started to feed her while Jason went back over to shop a little more, and I noticed the "duck face". Let me explain - Sophia has what we call a duck face whenever she is working on a twosie. She just kind of squishes her lips together and has a really focused look on her face. I know that's a little too much information, but we find it adorable. So, I quickly was able to throw all of the shopping bags back into the stroller grab Sophia and quickly get into the restroom - where I called Jay back for reinforcement. Thank goodness for the very nice family changing rooms in the mall! Again, another blow out - with a change of clothes, a whole lot of wet wipes and a few diapers later - we were good to go. Back into the sitting area to finish her bottle and she was again a very content little lady. We finished up our shopping and headed home (after lunch from the Cherry Cricket - great burgers!) Sophia was a champ - she did great. Jason and I were proud of ourselves for getting out of the house and successfully feeding and changing her several times out and about. It sounds simple, but it was a big victory for us :)
