One Month Old!

Wow - we can't believe its been one month already! Time flies so fast - what an incredible month it has been. Sophia has learned so much! She has gotten acquainted with this big world and now she is really started to see further and interact more with her surroundings. She is starting to bat at her hanging toys, look Jason and I in the eyes, mirror our expressions and staying awake longer! She loves her playtime mat, does pretty good with tummy time and really has gotten into the swing - it calms her and can put her to sleep. We have also had fun trying out some "baby wearing" gear. Jason has a baby carrier so that Sophia can sleep on his chest and I have a baby wrap, so that she can be tucked in against me when we go for our walks.

Sophia has been out and about quite a bit - we've been to Grandpa and Grandma Skalsky's house, Great-grandma's house, Aunt & Uncle Jeremy & Nicole's house, lots of restaurants and a day of shopping in Denver. We've also tried to go for walks once a day and have been to Starbucks and Barnes & Noble a few times as well.

We have learned a lot as first-time parents. We are getting a basic schedule put together, learning to understand her cues, how to calm and comfort her, most of all how to love and cuddle her (that's the easy part). We love our time when she sleeps on our chest, when she stares in awe of our faces, and when we are able to really calm her down - its like hitting the jackpot, knowing you can soothe your baby is the most rewarding feeling.
